Edward Chandler - ChairmanFor 27 years, Edward K. Chandler has been an active investor in early-stage technology ventures. He currently manages investments in ventures pursuing opportunities in software, information technologies, technology-levered business services, social marketing, clean energy, biotechnology and medical services.

Chandler manages Longboat Partners, and is founder and Managing Director of Portage Ventures which manages the Portage Venture Funds, the Graystone Venture Fund and the Draper Fisher Jurvetson Portage Fund. Prior to Portage, he formed Prairie Capital in 1990 to acquire a venture portfolio from the Continental Illinois Bank, whose venture capital affiliates he joined in 1984. From 1980 to 1982, he was an Associate with the Boston Consulting Group.

Chandler currently serves as a director of ThinkVine, Naurex, Talk3, Nymirum, and BBE Sound. He is a former director of start-ups HNC Software, Iwerks Entertainment, Meridian Data, Worldtalk, Viacyte, Feedburner, Performics and Gen 110, among others, and originated successful investments in Radius, E-Travel, Amicas, Hi-speed Solutions, FastWeb and SynaGeva.

Chandler holds an MBA from Harvard University, where he graduated with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar in 1984. He earned a BA in economics, magna cum laude, from Yale University in 1980.

Chandler has served as an officer and director of several non-profit organizations, including The Wetlands Initiative, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Lake Forest Country Day School and Lake Forest Open Lands Association. He is a Trustee of the Otho Sprague Memorial Institute, a granting foundation which supports innovative programs in medical research and care.
